Our Purpose:

Southland Academy was founded in 2000 with a two-fold purpose:
1) to help provide excellent academic instruction for engaged and consistent homeschooling families in subjects that are more difficult for parents to teach at home, and
2) to create a place for godly friendships and camaraderie to develop. We currently meet at Lenexa Baptist Church.

A Place for the Whole Family:
We offer top level courses for our high school students and junior high students, providing valuable classroom experience and individualized teacher feedback. We also offer enrichment classes for K-6th grades plus a PE class for all elementary grades. A classroom is also provided for infants through preschool age. Moms can spend time together as well for encouragement and fellowship.

"One of the reasons we homeschool is because we believe it's our responsibility as parents to disciple and educate our children. For that reason, I appreciate Southland co-op's model of having the whole family attend with the mom, and the moms participate in the classes as teacher assistants. I love knowing the teachers personally and their openness to communicate with me if I have a question or particular need for my child. My children enjoy each of the teachers immensely. In fact, sometimes around the dinner table there's a debate as to whose teacher is the best. Our children also enjoy interacting with their classmates on a regular basis. But yet they do not become more attached to their peers than the family because they do not spend the majority of their time attending co-op classes." ~ Pat K.

“Through the Bible/book study at Southland, God has richly blessed me with the challenge to grow spiritually as well as with friendship, encouragement, prayer support and laughter. The cherry on top is that I don't need to take an evening away from my family to meet these needs!”~ Brenda P.
